A Gesture of Generosity and Solidarity
Next Monday, the 15th, a new opportunity will unfold to contribute to collective well-being through an act of solidarity: the donation of blood and plasma at the Can Costa Cultural Center.
Premium.cat, in collaboration with local entities, organizes this event, one of four that are held annually in the municipality, with the aim of strengthening the reserves necessary to meet health demands.
Crucial Donations After the Holidays
Donations on this day are especially important to restore blood stocks after the festive period, when they usually experience a decrease of approximately 25%.
It should be remembered that platelets and red blood cells, essential in transfusion processes, have a limited life, which underlines the need to maintain a constant flow of donations throughout the year.
Cover Basic Health Needs
According to estimates for this year, more than 70,000 hospitalized patients in Catalonia will require some form of blood or plasma transfusion, with a total of more than 260,000 donations needed to cover this demand.
Transfusion needs are mostly distributed among patients with neoplasms, disorders of the digestive system and cardiovascular diseases, reflecting the diversity of clinical situations that require this type of life support.
A Gesture of Human Value
Beyond the numbers, each blood donation is a testimony of generosity and solidarity, with stories like those of Joan Carles Bargalló or Samuel Moreno, donors who, with their gesture, make a tangible improvement in the lives of many patients possible.
