A day to activate Rioja citizens
Mindchangers, CONGDCAR and Pop The Vote! Culture on de Ballot have organized a day in La Rioja with the aim of motivating citizens to face the challenges that affect our society. This initiative seeks to raise awareness about the issues that concern us at a local, European and global level, and promote the active participation of citizens in decision-making. The event, entitled ‘Mani(our): Cooperating between the local, the European and the global’, will address various interconnected topics including active citizenship, rootedness and elections to the European Parliament, as well as their relationship with the global challenges that we face.
Date and place
The event will take place on Thursday, May 9, Europe Day, in Gota de Leche starting at 5:00 p.m. Interested people can register until May 8.
Program of the day
The day’s program includes different activities to encourage participation and dialogue among attendees. The program is detailed below:
Reception and delivery of merchandise
Starting at 4:45 p.m., participants will be received and given promotional material related to the day.
Presentation of the initiatives
At 5:00 p.m., there will be a presentation by the organizations CONGDCAR, Mindchangers and Pop The Vote!, who will explain their initiatives and their importance for citizens.
Integration activity
At 5:30 p.m., an integration activity will take place with the participation of Osoigo, which will allow attendees to interact and get to know each other.
Collective reflection
At 6:00 p.m., a collective reflection titled ‘Mani(our) II’ will be held in collaboration with Pop The Vote!. During this activity, topics related to the sense of local and European belonging will be addressed, and participants will be invited to take part in a collaborative fanzine that will discuss Maslow’s model of good living and the European elections on June 9.
The EU’s external action
At 7:00 p.m., there will be a talk on the foreign action of the European Union and its relationship with other regions. The coherence of policies for sustainable development and the role of civil society in the EU and Latin America and the Caribbean in bi-regional relations will be discussed. The talk will feature the participation of Inma Alonso, project coordinator of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union of the Coordinator of Organizations for Development.
Catering and music
Starting at 8:15 p.m., a catering service will be offered and the day will be enlivened with music.
