Dr. Jordi Riera i Romaní, new director of Blanquerna
The Board of Trustees has appointed as director of Blanquerna Dr. Jordi Riera i Romaní, professor of Education at Ramon Llull University (URL) and dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Sciences of Education and Sport (FPCEE) in two different periods (from 1996 to 2004 and from 2021 to nowadays). In addition, Riera has been associated with the Rectorate of the Ramon Llull University from 2006 to 2020, holding several positions, such as vice-rector of Academic Policy and Quality of the URL and assistant to the rector.
Experience and achievements
The trajectory of Dr. Riera includes his training as a Diploma in Teaching from Blanquerna-URL, a degree in Pedagogy and a doctorate in Social Pedagogy from the UAB. In addition, he is the founder and Principal Investigator (PI) of the research group in Pedagogy, Society and Innovation with the support of ICT (PSITIC) of the FPCEE for the last 25 years. He has been a regular guest at congresses and conferences, has written several articles and books, and is an expert in education, social pedagogy and educational innovation.
Changes in direction
Dr. Riera will replace Dra. Giorgia Miotto, who was appointed in September 2021 and has led the institution for the past three years, facing the academic and economic challenges that have presented themselves in a complicated context.
Dr. Marc Franco Sola, new dean of the FPCEE
The new dean of the FPCEE will be Dr. Marc Franco Sola, until now academic vice dean of degrees and innovation at the Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences. Dr. Franco holds a diploma in Primary Education Teaching, with a specialization in Physical Education, and a degree and doctorate in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences from the Ramon Llull University (URL). He is a professor in degrees and masters in Education and a member of the Research and Innovation in Sport and Society (GRIES) group of the URL.
Designations of the president of the Blanquerna Foundation
The appointments, made by the president of the Blanquerna Foundation, Dr. Josep Maria Carbonell, will enter into force on September 1, 2024.
