Changes in Line V19 service
This Saturday marks the beginning of a new age for travelers on the V19 line, with a significant change in the way passengers must interpret the front of the buses. In order to improve communication on the route, users must pay special attention to determine if their bus goes to the Plaza de Alfonso Comín, Verdaguer or Vallcarca.
Reinforcement of service on weekends
To face the increase in demand during the weekends and holidays, up to eight additional vehicles have been incorporated into two key sections of the route. This measure seeks to improve the experience of passengers and reduce the saturation that has characterized the V19 line, especially popular with tourists who use it to access Barceloneta and Park Güell.
Reinforced itineraries
In the north section, four buses have been added for 80 passengers, which operate between 10 and 18 hours, connecting Prague – Ronda del Guinardó with Avenida de la República Argentina. In the southern section, the situation is similar, with four vehicles circulating from 10am to 9pm, with a capacity for 120 people, between Paseo de San Juan – Corsica and Rosa dels Vents square.
Key information for passengers
Travelers must be aware that the V19 line now has three distinguishing routes, which are: the usual route between Barceloneta and Plaça d’Alfonso Comín; the route to Verdaguer; and a third route that ascends to Vallcarca, only in the direction of climb.
Informative support at stops
To facilitate the transition to these changes, TMB has deployed a team of reporters at the stops to guide users and clarify any questions. In addition, signaling has been improved at the affected stops to ensure that the passengers are well informed.
Community reactions
The decision to diversify the V19 service responds to the increasing complaints of the usual neighbors and users, who have experienced a collapse of the service due to the increase in the number of tourists. This situation intensified with the elimination of the bus from the 116 district of Google Maps, which had been a popular option for accessing Park Güell. This has caused many visitors to opt for V19 and 24, which are the two lines closest to the park.
Use data
In the last year, the V19 line has seen a significant increase in its use, with more than six million travelers registered during 2024, 10% more than the previous year. Statistics show that the line manages an average of 19,000 validations during weekdays, 14,000 on Saturdays and 12,000 holidays.
