A window to the technological future
The Alcoy Campus of the Polytechnic University of Valencia has recently hosted the 14th edition of the Appinventor Programming Contest, an initiative designed to stimulate young talent in technology. More than 230 students from various locations in the Valencian Community and Madrid have joined this innovative competition, presenting a total of 79 creative projects.
A collaborative event
This edition of the competition is part of the project ‘Young Consciousness’, which is supported by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and University. The coordination has been in charge of the Degree in Computer Engineering and the Double Degree in ADE and Computer Engineering, with the collaboration of various local entities and institutions.
Diversity of projects and modalities
The participants have been distributed in two categories: Modality A for ESO students and middle -grade training cycles, and modality B for high school students and higher cycles in computer science. The projects presented have emphasized their creativity, functionality and social impact, highlighting the skills of young people in the digital world.
Premis I recognitions
This year’s winners have been recognized for their excellence. In modality A, the Plus team of the IES Mediterranea won the popular prize, while ‘Movie Maker’ also of the IES Mediterranea, won the first prize. In Modality B, ‘Sky Battle’ of IES La Foia was the favorite of the audience, and ‘Baby Safety’ of the IES Nou Deramador won the first prize.
Special mentions
In addition, several special mentions have been awarded to projects such as ‘Bienestar and Daily habits’ of the IES Nou Deramador and ‘Moscabeja and Alcoia’ of the José Arnauda school, among others. These mentions recognize the diversity and innovation that students have provided to the competition.
A future full of possibilities
The Appinventor Programming Contest is not only a platform to show students’ technological skills, but also promotes interest in STEM disciplines. With an increasing number of participants and projects each year, this initiative promises to remain a fundamental pillar for the development of innovative future in the digital world.
