A week of action in the Odena Basin
On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is celebrated every November 25, the Mancomunitat de la Conca d’Òdena (MICOD) has designed a diverse program of activities aimed at raising awareness and preventing gender-based violence. This year’s campaign, under the slogan ‘Putting desire at the center’, places particular emphasis on identifying sexual violence, an area that often requires a specialized approach.
Activities for everyone
The initiatives, organized by the seven MICOD municipalities with the collaboration of local entities, are accessible and will run until December 1. The program includes nearly thirty free proposals, ranging from self-defense workshops to reflection spaces with experts. This diversity of activities seeks to involve all segments of the population.
Exhibitions and shows
One of the highlighted events is the exhibition ‘Put desire at the centre’, which will open on November 25 at the North Civic Center in Igualada, complemented by a round table that addresses issues such as consent and sexual violence. In addition, Vilanova del Camí will host ‘Píndoles de males dones’, a show that challenges traditional gender roles.
Visual actions to raise awareness
The town halls of the Conca d’Òdena will illuminate their facades with lilac lights and hang banners calling for action to eliminate gender-based violence. In addition, the Mancomunitat has launched a visible awareness campaign in streets and squares, with totems containing impactful messages to promote identification and awareness of this violence.
A continuous commitment
The equality councilors of the Conca d’Òdena have expressed their desire that conversations about gender violence are not limited to November 25. They recall that services such as the Women’s Information and Care Service (SIAD) offer support and advice for those affected. It is a reminder that the fight against gender violence requires constant effort.
A broader panorama in Anoia
In addition to the activities in the Conca d’Òdena, other municipalities in the Anoia region have also organized events to commemorate the 25th of November. In Capellades, workshops and documentary screenings have already begun, while in Piera, a silent march is planned to remember the victims.
Various activities in other locations
Masquefa, Calaf and el Bruc join the cause with events that include concerts, round tables and exhibitions. These initiatives not only seek to commemorate the day, but also to educate and promote the debate on gender violence, with the aim of achieving real and sustainable social change.
