A new focus for a complex reality
The question of homelessness at Barcelona-El Prat airport is about to receive renewed care thanks to a comprehensive plan that seeks to tackle this social problem effectively. The Department of Social Rights has revealed its intention to collaborate with the Barcelona City Council, the Prat de Llobregat and Aena City Council to establish a system of support and support for the people who live at the airport.
Long -term actions for autonomy and inclusion
This plan is not only limited to an immediate response, but also aims to create a sustainable model that integrates social diagnosis, direct support and coordination between institutions. With an expected investment of 516,000 euros, we want to hire specialized homelessness professionals to meet the basic needs of users.
Commitment to the most vulnerable
Raúl Moreno, Secretary General of Social Rights and Inclusion, emphasized that this model seeks to address a complex reality and strengthen the Government’s commitment to the most vulnerable people, dismantling a situation that has been perpetuated in recent months.
A team dedicated to T1 and T2 terminals
The proposal includes the creation of a team of professionals from the Barcelona City Council who will work at the T1 and T2 terminals, with an investment of 384,000 euros for implementation. It is also planned to reinforce the social services in Prat de Llobregat with the hiring of a new professional, for which 132,000 euros will be assigned.
Coordination and decision -making
To ensure proper management of these resources, a technical table of the intervention project (TTPI) will be created, which will function as a space for coordination and decision -making on the most complicated cases. This table will meet monthly and will be coordinated by the Ministry.
An initial diagnosis for future action
This agreement is presented after one month of intense work by social rights, which has established a daily device at the airport to evaluate the current situation and begin to make necessary referrals. This initiative marks the beginning of a wider effort to create a permanent social care system at the airport.
