Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a diplomatic note prohibiting the Spanish Consulate in Jerusalem from providing consular services to Palestinians residing in the occupied West Bank from June 1, 2024.

This decision is a reprisal for the recognition of the Palestinian State by Spain.

The ban does not affect Spanish citizens.

Israel has also taken into account the statements of Vice President Yolanda Díaz, which it considers anti-Semitic.

The Consulate of Spain in Jerusalem will be able to continue providing consular services to residents of the Jerusalem district.

Spain, Ireland and Norway have announced the recognition of the Palestinian State, which has provoked the anger of Israel.

More than 140 countries recognize the Palestinian State, including eight European countries and almost all Arab countries or countries historically linked to the non-aligned movement.
