Inauguration of an innovative exhibition
On April 17 at 11 am, the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, will be responsible for kicking off the exhibition entitled ‘Past, present and future of LGTBI+’ journalism ‘, organized by the Line Space. This exhibition will not only serve as a display case in the history of LGTBI+journalism, but also will be a meeting place to discuss the challenges and opportunities that this group faces in today’s media.
Debate on LGBTI+ visibility in the media
The event will include an enriching dialogue with prominent figures such as Quim Esteban, head of RNE’s ‘Plural and Singulars’ program, and Mar Sifre Rigol, director of pride. This debate will seek to explore the current representation of the collective in the press, as well as the improvements needed to guarantee a fair and accurate coverage.
An open space for everyone
With free admission, the inauguration will become an inclusive event where everyone is invited to participate. Attendees will be able to ask questions and share their views on the situation of LGBTBI+journalism, thus fostering an atmosphere of collective and reflection.
The importance of history in LGTBI+ journalism
The exhibition offers a retrospective look at the LGTBI+Journalism Journey, from the Era of Pre-Republican silence to the present day. One of the key moments that stands out is the transition, when the first LGTBI+ publications were born in Catalonia, which marked a before and after in the media representation of the collective.
A reflection of social struggle
The organizers, the journalist Andreu Asensio and the graphic designer Marga Moreno, have created an exhibition that not only documents the story, but also claims the importance of LGBTBI+ journalism as a vehicle for social change. Asensio explains that, although there was a certain tolerance during the Franco regime, he was unthinkable openly claiming journalism that we consider today essential.
A toast for the future
At the end of the event, attendees will enjoy a toast with cava, celebrating not only the successes achieved so far, but also the future possibilities for LGTBI+journalism. In addition, you can buy the latest issue of the Magazine Pride, which offers opinion articles, reports and interviews that delve into the reality of the collective.
Visit to Line Space
The exhibition will be available for the free visit to the Línea Space, located at 52 Girona Street, until the summer. This initiative seeks not only to educate, but also to inspire a new dialogue on the LGBTBI+ representation in the media.
