Commitment to Sustainability

Faced with the urgency of climate change, the need to move towards sustainable energy models has become an indisputable priority. The Diputació de Barcelona has taken a firm position in this cause, promoting the implementation of renewable energies in several municipalities of the province.

Innovative Initiatives and Financing

With the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting energy savings, the Provincial Council offers financial support to projects focused on renewable energies, such as photovoltaics and biomass. The Renewables 2030 and Ecological Transition 2030 programs are key in this strategy, with grants allocated to projects that have a significant impact.

Requirements for the Projects

To be eligible, renewable energy projects must have a minimum power of 80 kW, while public lighting actions must include more than 300 light points, thus ensuring a substantial improvement in energy efficiency.

Impact on the Lluçanès Region

In the Lluçanès region, 16 projects have been approved with a total investment of 5.8 million euros, of which 4.8 million are subsidized by the Provincial Council. These projects not only encourage economic savings, with annual savings of 700,000 euros, but also have a significant environmental impact.

Concrete Examples of Implementation

Projects such as the photovoltaic collective self-consumption in Prats del Lluçanès or the biomass installations in the Alps are clear examples of this energy transition, bringing benefits both economically and environmentally.

A Promising Future

With a total expenditure of 179 million euros on projects presented in the province, the Provincial Council has contributed 134.9 million euros since 2022, reflecting a solid commitment to sustainability. The results are promising: a reduction of 64,000 tons of greenhouse gases and an energy saving of 148 GWh per year is expected.

Transparency and Information

For those interested in learning more about the projects and their impact, the Provincial Council offers an information portal that details each initiative by municipality and type.

A Global Commitment

This initiative by the Barcelona Provincial Council aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing its commitment to a global agenda for 2030 that seeks a more sustainable and just world.
