The railway improvements of the Territorial Plan are well received in Manlleu and Torelló
Manlleu and Torelló, two towns in the Osona region, have expressed a positive assessment of the railway improvements proposed by the Territorial Plan of the Central Regions. This plan, recently approved by the Catalan Government, aims to organize the urban growth and infrastructure of the central counties over the next 25 years.
Divergent opinions in Torelló
The accidental mayor of Torelló, Lluís Bassas, has expressed his opinion on the plan, stating that the proposed growth seems excessive. However, the specific aspects of the territorial plan must still be studied in order to better understand its implications.
Improvements in transport infrastructure
The Territorial Plan of the Central Regions includes several improvements in the transport infrastructure of the region of Osona. These improvements include the Transversal Railway Axis project of Catalonia, the consolidation of a regional metro in the Plana de Vic and the conditioning and splitting of the train line in Osona. These projects are seen positively by the mayor of Manlleu, Pere Prat, who values the commitment to public transport.
Objectives of the Territorial Plan
The Territorial Plan of the Central Regions has three main objectives: strengthen the urban network and order urban growth, boost and diversify economic activity, and limit the dispersion of urbanization. This plan envisages the development of important urban areas around cities such as Igualada, Manresa and Vic, as well as significant growth for towns such as Torelló and Manlleu.
