Prepared for the electoral battle

Next Sunday, May 12, the city of Manlleu will be the scene of an outstanding local presence in the elections to the Parliament of Catalonia. Seven people from Leuven, with various political affiliations, are among the candidates seeking to represent their community.

Political diversity

Four of the seven local representatives already hold positions in the Manlleuen council. Toni Poyato, known for being fourth deputy mayor and councilor for People and Citizen Services, heads the list of the PSC as number 19. Rafa Cuenca, representative of Esquerra Republicana, occupies position 49, while Lleonard Sánchez ( 28) and Roger Saborit (6) appear on the CUP and Aliança Catalana lists, respectively.

The other three from Leuven who aspire to a seat in Parliament are Ricard Comajoan (CUP, 66), Jordi Rierola (Aliança Catalana, 42) and Roser Cirera (Aliança Catalana, 53). David Bosch, councilor in Manlleu, also takes a step forward as Junts candidate, contributing his experience to the party’s economic sector in the next elections.

A challenge for local representation

With a diversity of voices and ideologies, Lenders present a full range of political options. The elections of May 12 will be a crucial framework for determining how local representation manifests itself in the Catalan parliamentary landscape.
