With sea turtles in abundance, their meat was slowly cooked in an aromatic broth, enriched with onions, garlic and herbs, resulting in a thick and flavorful soup. Although its popularity has declined due to the protection of turtles, this recipe was a luxury in its time, providing essential nutrients to the crew.
