The meeting in the British capital
Deco and Bojan Krkić are in London for an arranged meeting with the possible new Barça coach, Hansi Flick. As confirmed by ESPN, Flick is Joan Laporta’s favorite to fill the position left by Xavi Hernández at the head of the team. Flick, a former German coach with achievements such as a World Cup with the German team and a Champions League with Bayern Munich, is known for his famous 2-8 against Barça in Lisbon.
Meeting with Pini Zahavi
During this meeting, Deco and Bojan Krkić also reportedly met with Flick’s representative, Pini Zahavi. It should be noted that Zahavi is close to Joan Laporta and their relationship has led to previous deals, such as the arrival of Robert Lewandowski to Barça in 2022.
Xavi Hernández outside the club
Everything indicates that Hansi Flick is getting closer to becoming Barça’s new coach, which would leave Xavi Hernández out of the club. Despite having been confirmed in his position a month ago, recent events have put Xavi’s continuity in doubt. At Barça he did not like his change of speech at the press conference, going from being positive to negative and stating that without signings it is difficult to compete with the top competitors.
Complicated situation before the market
Barça will try to resolve the coach’s situation before July 1, since this uncertainty is not attractive for potential signings. In addition, some players on the current squad do not know if they will continue, which makes planning possible additions difficult. There are even signings that would have been made thanks to Xavi’s presence as coach, as is the case of Kimmich, who saw Xavi as his football idol and wanted to play for Barça for him.
