Terraces on streets not intended for vehicle traffic
The City Council of Sóller has made modifications to the Municipal Ordinance Regulating the use of public roads. These modifications mainly affect the installation of terraces in streets not intended for vehicle traffic. According to the new regulations, establishments will be allowed to install tables and chairs in these streets, always giving way to pedestrians. This change will be welcomed by the owners of the establishments, as it will allow them to install terraces in these streets without problems. However, it remains to be seen how this measure will affect the residents of areas where the installation of terraces on pedestrian streets is allowed.
Prohibition of the use of skirts on the terraces
Another important modification is the prohibition of the use of skirts on the terraces. Faldons are awnings that are used to protect customers from the sun. According to the Councilor for Public Roads, Carlos Darder, this ban has been established to preserve the aesthetics of the municipality and avoid the installation of ‘tents’ on the terraces, as this would affect the beauty of the streets and areas of Sóller.
Transfer of licenses and elimination of timetables
Other changes made to the ordinance include the ability to transfer licenses when the same activity is legally transferred and the elimination of business hours. These modifications aim to simplify administrative procedures and adapt to the needs of establishments.
