An emblematic building reaches 10 years
Montbui is at a time of partying, as one of its most significant cultural spaces, Mont-Agora, celebrates its tenth anniversary. Located in the Sant Maure district, this building has become a pillar of the cultural life of the Anoia region, as the Councilor for Culture, Sara Bergantiño, explains: “Its influence extends beyond local borders, attracted by events of great importance.”
A project born of the cultural need
The Mont-Agora was opened on March 21, 2015 during the term of Teo Romero, with the aim of covering the shortcomings of cultural infrastructure in the area. Its creation coincided with the closure of the Kursal cinema in Igualada, a fact that left a gap that Mont-Agora has helped to fill.
Recognition and Innovative Design
Designed by the architect Pere Puig, Mont-Agora has received several awards, including a recognition of the World Architecture Festival and nominations to the German Design Awards, emphasizing its importance as a cultural work. Councilor Bergantiño emphasizes that “civic spaces must be a reflection of the community, a place where people feel at home.”
Adaptation to new times and trends
Currently, Mont-Agora offers a diverse program that includes activities for all ages. Bergantiño acknowledges that, although pandemic has affected participation in some activities such as cinema, the commitment to live culture is still a success: “After pandemic, cinema is only projected once a week, but live shows attract more and more attendees.”
Birthday Celebrations: A weekend full of activities
Today, coinciding with the anniversary, Mont-Agora will host a protocol event where music and poetry will be the protagonists. Sheila Grados, singer and singing teacher, will be the presenter of the event that will have the participation of local rapsodes and poets.
A varied program for all
In addition to the recitals, Sheila Grados will also perform several musical pieces, guaranteeing a dynamic and varied event. The act, of intimate format, will require invitation due to the limitations of capacity.
A family weekend full of fun
On Saturday, the family program will take center stage with a show that will include the group ‘Disco per Xics’, promising a fun afternoon for the little ones. The activities do not stop here; Throughout the month of March, Mont-Agora is offering various workshops and activities such as flamenco, yoga and theatrical improvisation.
