A Singular event in Montserrat

The first weekend of March marked the debut of the new season of passions, with the presentation of the show ‘Passion of passions’ at the magnificent location of Montserrat. The Catalan Federation of Passions gathered the 22 entities that make it to share their art with the public.

Outdoor performances

The shows were performed outside, where each entity had the opportunity to show a small selection of their repertoire. This format allowed the passions to present diverse and innovative performances that captivated the attendees.

Crucifixion: a key moment

One of the most exciting moments of the event was the representation of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, carried out by the Passion of the Passion of Ulldecona inside the basilica. This event, directed by Carles Malfeito, vice president of the federation, brought together an exceptional choir and orchestra, under the direction of the teacher David Granato, thus creating an unforgettable experience for the attendees.

A recognition of tradition

Jordi Carapuig, President of the Catalan Federation of Passions, expressed his thanks to the Abbey of Montserrat for the opportunity to present the new season at such a significant time, coinciding with the millennium of the monastery. He emphasized that this experience was an excellent platform to make his work visible among the thousands of visitors who arrive in Montserrat every day.

Valor Cultural i Social

The Secretary General of Culture of the Generalitat, Josep Maria Carrete, emphasized the importance of passions as an essential element of Catalan culture. In addition to their religious and theatrical dimension, these representations foster generational exchange and social cohesion.

Transmission of values

Jordi Puigdevall, Prior Major of the Abbey, commented on the fundamental role of passions in the transmission of Christian faith and values, emphasizing that these representations are an effective way to connect with new generations.

A new season at the time of action

With this inaugural event, Jordi Carapuig officially declared the start of the new season of passions, wishing the 22 entities that compose it ‘Health, Force and Passion’ in their future projects.
