A significant investment for the future

The Sagrada Familia has announced a new call for its social action fund, which will have a total contribution of 4.9 million euros. This initiative will be expanded to include the dioceses of Sant Feliu de Llobregat and Terrassa, thus covering the entire ecclesastic province of Barcelona. Xavier Martínez, General Director of the Board of Trustees of the Construction Board, made this announcement during an event held on March 27, emphasizing that ‘The Social Action Fund continues to grow and bring benefits to our communities’.

Projects that transform lives

In the last edition of the fund, which had 3.5 million euros, a total of 94 initiatives benefited, including ‘The Radio Estel and Catalunya Cristiana project accompany the elderly’. The representatives of the entities have symbolically received their financial endowment by prominent figures such as Cardinal Joan Josep Omella and Xavier Martínez.

Praise to projects benefited

During the speeches, all attendees emphasized the importance of projects, which were classified into four main categories: childhood, adolescence and youth; Migration and refugees; Poverty and social exclusion; Health and personal autonomy; and Third Age.

A legat that continues

Cardinal Joan Josep Omella stated that ‘from the sky, Antoni Gaudí would be very happy with this simple but significant commemoration’. He recalled how the master architect not only cared about the construction of the basilica, but also dealt with the welfare of the workers and their families, providing them with education and food.

Commitment to the community

Núria Vendrell, President of the Commission of the Social Action Fund, shared that the Board of Trustees has personally visited all the 56 entities benefited in the first call of the Fund. “We have spent many hours knowing about the realities of these entities,” said Vendrell, adding that, despite the difficulties that some of them face, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing the faces of people who make these projects possible.
