Transformation of land into an urban oasis
The City Council of Escaldes-Engordany has launched an innovative project to transform a newly acquired plot, with an area of 782.29 m², in a public space that promotes sustainability and community interaction. This initiative, which began in October 2023, seeks to improve the environment and create a meeting place for neighbors.
Different areas for various uses
The new space will be divided into three distinct areas, each with a specific purpose. The first and largest, of 482.29 m², will be transformed into a public garden, designed to offer a place of rest and connection with nature. The trees and stone walls that are currently being preserved and integrated into design, favoring biodiversity and local heritage.
A garden for community enjoyment
In this park, benches and green areas will be installed that will promote social exchange and rest, thus creating a cozy space for all ages. The aim is for citizens to enjoy a natural environment that promotes well -being.
Exclusive area for the Department of the Environment
The second area, 220 m², will be dedicated to the activities of the Environment Department. This area will include a greenhouse, a work space for gardening, and a section for the recovery of plants. In addition, a storage space for material and trees will be enabled. This area will not be accessible to the public, ensuring that communal workers can carry out their tasks without interruption.
Uncertain future but promoter for the third zone
The third subspace, 80 m² and located at a higher level, is still in the study phase to determine its use. Local authorities are considering several options that could also include public use functions, thus contributing to the offer of green spaces in the area.
Strategic location and cultural heritage
Located in the heritage area of Escaldes-Engordany, next to the Tosca bridge and the Madriu river, this plot has a significant cultural value. Its acquisition is part of a wider plan to increase public spaces in the urban center and preserve the natural and historical heritage of the region.
Future improvements and urban connections
In the long term, this plot will not only enrich community life, but will also facilitate circulation through a new road that will connect with the Obac road, improving access to an area that is currently a sack ass. Thus, the commune seeks not only to beautify the landscape, but also to promote greater social cohesion.
