Girona begins the construction of its new sports city
Girona has obtained the building permit to start the construction of the City Football Academy Girona, its new sports city located in Vilablareix. After passing all the bureaucratic formalities, the club is ready to start the works on the first phase of the project.
An expected and delayed project
After a long process, Girona has finally obtained the necessary permits for the construction of its sports city. The project, which was presented more than a year ago, has suffered several delays, but is now close to becoming a reality.
The first phase of the project
The first phase of the sports city includes the construction of two natural grass football fields, as well as the necessary facilities for the first team, such as changing rooms, offices and a gym. This phase will allow Girona to move to the new sports city from next school year.
An ambitious project
Girona’s sports city will be a first-class facility, with a total of seven football pitches and an institutional headquarters. In addition, it is expected that more facilities can be built in the future, such as a residence for young footballers. The total cost of the project is estimated at around 25 million euros.
The future of Montilivi
With the construction of the new sports city underway, Girona is also studying how to improve the Montilivi stadium to be able to play in Europe. The club has ambitions to build a second unique stand, but no decision has been made yet.
