Start of a New Season
Since July 20, the emblematic Panoramic Lakes Train begins its summer season. This means of tourist transport, managed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, operates during the central weeks of summer, offering a unique experience along the historic line between Lleida and La Pobla de Segur. Travelers have the opportunity to enjoy majestic landscapes in a comfortable environment, thanks to the large windows of their carriages, where they can contemplate extensive areas of water.
Spectacular scenery
This year, the views become even more impressive. According to information provided by the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation, as of July 4, the Sant Llorenç, Camarasa, Terradets and Sant Antoni reservoirs reach almost 90% of their capacity. This promises an unparalleled visual spectacle throughout the route.
Historical and Panoramic Tour
The Lake Train Journey is a unique journey that winds between mountains, crosses bridges and tunnels, and enters deep gorges. This tour, which stands out for its panoramic nature, is done without having to leave the train. There are two modalities to enjoy this historical journey: the Historical Train, which provides an authentic experience, or the Panoramic Train, ideal for the size of its windows.
Journey and Nature
From Lleida to La Pobla de Segur, the train travels a distance of 89 kilometers along the Segre and Noguera Pallaresa rivers, crossing the regions of Segrià, Noguera and the mountainous region of Montsec, until reaching Pallars Jussà. During the journey, passengers cross four reservoirs, 40 tunnels and 75 bridges, all while enjoying wonderful views.
Features and Comfort
The Panoramic Train units, classified as GTW series 331, are designed to offer a higher level of comfort and accessibility. They have spaces enabled for people with reduced mobility and for bicycles, as well as plug sockets available for travelers. Information about stops and tour details is provided through public address systems, thus facilitating the experience.
Guided Experience
The trains have 90 seats distributed in two air-conditioned cars, in addition to having a guide who tells the history of the region and highlights points of interest along the journey. For the 2024 season, the Panoramic Train will schedule four trips: July 20 and 27, and August 3 and 10. On the remaining Saturdays in August, September and October, the Historic Train will operate, using original material from the 1950s.
