The Importance of Asking in Education

Mario Bunge, one of the great thinkers of the 20th century, pointed out the importance of teaching students to investigate and be surprised. This philosophy is a fundamental pillar that educators in Mataró have adopted in their teaching methodology. Núria Masferrer, who teaches philosophy at the Meritxell School, emphasizes that curiosity is intrinsic to human nature, and for this reason, students from a young age are interested in deep questions that help them develop their critical thinking.

Celebrating World Philosophy Day

On November 21, the world joins in the celebration of World Philosophy Day, and Mataró is not left behind with its innovative proposal. The FiloEduca days have been designed to highlight the importance of this discipline in education, a subject that is often underestimated, but which is essential for the intellectual growth of young people.

Activities and Dynamics

The day promises to be dynamic and attractive, with five activities that will start at 11:30 am. Among them, a philosophical gymkhana through the streets of the city, a conference by university professor Josep Macia at the Dòria Llibres bookstore, a film forum, a literary talk, and a workshop dedicated to philosophical board games.

Awards and Recognitions

The main event will be held at the Pati del Cafè Nou, where the award for the best philosophical photography will be presented. Students will have to merge deep questions with images that reflect philosophical themes. In addition, the philosophical manifesto, an emblematic text of thought, will also be present in a competition that will culminate in the reading of the winner.

A Meeting Between Generations

One of the main objectives of this edition of the conference is to encourage interaction between students from different educational centers, with the hope of generating a more open and genuine debate between them.
