The Mossos d’Esquadra and the National Police carry out a joint operation
The Mossos d’Esquadra of the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Camp de Tarragona Police Region, together with the National Police, carried out a joint operation last March 26. This operation culminated in the arrest of six men, aged between 20 and 40.
Arrested accused of various crimes
Those arrested face various charges, including membership of a criminal organization, drug trafficking, robbery with violence, unlawful possession of weapons, injury and damage.
Assaults on marijuana plantations and violent robberies
The operation began after the detection of a criminal organization specialized in assaulting marijuana plantations. These criminals used firearms and dressed in police uniforms to carry out the assaults. The first case investigated was an attempted assault in Tarragona last summer. Despite not succeeding, they demonstrated their ability to impersonate police officers and the use of weapons (https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de-textos-en-catala/).
Arrests and confiscation of drugs and weapons
The Mossos d’Esquadra and the National Police collaborated in a joint device that culminated in the arrests and several entries and searches. During this operation, drugs such as hashish, marijuana and cocaine were confiscated, as well as weapons, cash and other items related to the assaults.
Detention by European Arrest Warrant
In addition to those arrested by the organization, a 37-year-old man was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant issued by Belgium. Those arrested, with criminal records, have already been brought before the courts and the investigation remains open.
