Research Scope of the Award
The premium.cat Prize for Historical Research in High School 2025 invites students to explore the contemporary historical memory of the Catalan Countries, focusing on key periods such as the republican era (1931-1939), the anti-Franco movement and exile (1939-1975), as well as the democratic transition (1975-1980).
Assessment of Unusual Investigations
Special emphasis will be placed on works that delve into historical facts or biographies of figures that have been overshadowed by more well-known studies, thus providing a new perspective on our history.
Who can participate?
All high school students from secondary schools in the Catalan Countries have the opportunity to participate in this call, enriching the historical debate with their research.
Conditions and requirements
The works submitted must be original and works that have already received awards in other competitions will not be accepted. Furthermore, the writing must be in Catalan.
Extension of works
Participants must respect a minimum length of 75,000 characters with spaces and a maximum of 100,000 characters with spaces. In the case of audiovisual formats, the duration must not exceed 30 minutes.
Deadline and presentation
The last day to send proposals will be Friday, April 11, 2025. The works must be submitted by email to the premium.cat Foundation, with the support of the student’s tutor.
Required information
Each work must contain personal information about the student and tutor, including names, addresses, telephone numbers and emails, as well as the date the document was prepared, which must correspond to the current school year.
The Jury and its decision
The selection of the winner of the premium.cat Prize for Historical Research in the 2025 Baccalaureate will be carried out by a jury made up of five experts in the academic and communication fields of the Catalan Countries, with the participation of a representative of the Foundation acting as secretary without a vote.
Awards and recognitions
A prize will be awarded for the best work, as well as two recognitions for the finalist works. In case of not reaching an adequate level, the prize may be declared void.
Benefits of the Award
The winner will receive a scholarship to cover the tuition for the first year of university studies, with a limit of €1,000, and the finalists will obtain a grant of up to €500. All participants will also enjoy an annual subscription to the magazine Sàpiens.

With this initiative, it is intended to inspire new generations to explore and understand the past that has shaped our current society.
