A great event underway
With the arrival of the Games of the Small States of Europe (JPEE) in Andorra, which will be held from May 26 to 31, police are finalizing a thorough security plan. This event will not only attract more than 1,600 athletes and technicians, but it will also be the scene of a summit of heads of state and a ministerial meeting of sports, a fact that accentuates its importance.
Collaboration and coordination
The security operation is carried out in close collaboration with the Andorran Olympic Committee and other key bodies, including emergency services, to ensure that all attendees, from dignitaries to viewers, enjoy a safe environment during the Games.
Traffic alterations: What you need to know
Cutting of tracks during the opening
On May 26, the JPEE’s inauguration will involve significant changes in circulation. The Prat de la Creu streets, descent of the Molí and Prada backpack will be closed from 7.45 pm, with damage also to a lane of the CG-1 from 15:00 h. This measure seeks to facilitate the access of buses that transport the athletes to the inaugural event.
Cycling competitions and their implications
During the Cycling Test of May 27, the CG-3 between Ordino and the Serrat will be closed between 9.30 am and 12:00. The circulation will be completely interrupted in both directions during the passage of the runners, who will be preceded by a pilot vehicle from the police.
Impact of cycling en route
On May 31, the cycling competition en route will cause significant traffic cuts between Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany. The vehicles will not be able to circulate in several sections of the CG-1 and the CG-2, with restrictions that will begin at 9 am and will remain until 12.30. The runners will follow a circuit that will take them on various key roads.
Public transport adapted to the event
With the celebration of this event, public transport routes will also be affected. On May 26, the usual lines operating in the center of Andorra will modify their routes to avoid the cutting areas. In addition, during cycling competitions, some lines will not stop at the National Stadium and the Circular Lines Service and Express will be interrupted.
Reflections on the event
The celebration of the Games of Small States of Europe is not only an opportunity for athletes, but also a platform to show Andorra’s capacity to host major events. The coordination between the authorities and the police body will be essential to ensure that this event is developed without mishap, leaving a positive legacy to the community and visitors.
