The party castle takes shape
March 11 marked the start of work for the assembly of the Fiesta Castle in Alcoy. Municipal operators are working hard to ensure that everything is prepared for April 1, when the festivals will start strongly.
Installation of the enramada on the streets
From March 17, the placement of the enramada that will adorn the streets of the center will be launched. This process will be extended for a week, with a detailed calendar that includes Plaza de España, Sant Nicolau, Sant Llorenç, among others.
Installation calendar
The first section will be installed in the Plaza de España, followed by Sant Nicolau and Sant Llorenç between March 18 and 20. The 23rd will be the turn of streets like Sant Jordi and Sant Francesc, and on the 24th we will work in Mossén Torregrosa and Sant Tomàs. Finally, on the 25th and 26th they will be dedicated to Sant Llorenç and Avenida País Valencià.
Structural improvements in the castle
The castle has experienced several restorations last year, including a repainting that has helped to regain its original appearance. In addition, 359 battlements have been renewed in Plaza de España, replaced by lighter and longer materials, resulting in a significant weight reduction.
Benefits of improvements
Thanks to these updates, the total weight has been reduced by almost 3,000 kg, facilitating a more secure and efficient installation of the enramada. Each merlet now weighs 8.2 kg less, contributing to the sustainability of the festivities.
Declarations of the Councilor of Parties
Jordi Martínez, the responsible councilor, has expressed the commitment of the City Council to the continuous improvement of the festivities. ‘Working on the security and spectacularity of our celebrations is a priority. The renovation of the battlements is an important step and we are already planning more improvements for 2026, coinciding with the 750th anniversary of the patronage of Sant Jordi, “he said.
Expectations for April 1
With the preparations underway, the community is eagerly awaiting the revelation of this year’s poster, by the Alcoyan artist Ximo Canet. The Moors and Christians festivals promise to be a memorable event that brings together tradition, culture and innovation.
