An Annual Celebration
The Casal de Cultura-Museu de Sóller was the setting for the presentation of the children’s historical figures of 2024. This event, organized by the Foment de Cultura de la Dona, selected two dolls and twelve boys to represent the protagonists of the 11 of May 1561. This annual celebration highlights the importance of preserving and passing on local history to new generations.
The Children’s Characters of 2024
The characters selected for this year include Aina Puig Pérez and Auba Enseñat Morell as Valentes women children 2024. In addition, Xavier Vallespir Sureda will represent Captain Angelats, Pau Miquel Marroig Sergeant Soler, and Eloi Oliver Rami the Viceroy of Rocafull. Other notable characters are Jaume Arbona Rosselló as mayor, and councilors Joan Noguera Morell, Martín Vicho Milanovich, Miquel Bover Coll, Tomeu Oliver Forteza and Gerard Moragues Colom. Miquel Arbona Ortiz will be the Trabucaire, Lluc Martorell Bisbal the priest, and Adrià Marroig Gómez the friar.
Emotion and Preparation
During the presentation, the children showed nerves and joy to be part of the protagonists of the party. The families reviewed the events that the children will have to attend during the five days of the festival, as well as the specific clothing for each character. This meticulous preparation reflects the importance and respect towards historical representation.
A Look at History
The event concluded with a detailed explanation of the history of the Firó by the historian Antoni Quetglas. This presentation not only provided information about the party, but also revealed fascinating trivia and details, enriching the understanding of the event.
Careful Selection and Collaboration
The selection of children’s historical figures is carried out annually in February, with the participation of second grade students and the collaboration of parents enrolled in the Promotion of Women’s Culture. This organization, in addition to being responsible for the child protagonists, also organizes other cultural events, such as the flower exhibition at the Casal de Cultura, contributing to the preservation and dissemination of the rich local history.
