Smiles and indignation in Madrid
The citizens of Madrid have experienced with surprise and indignation an event to which the citizens of Catalonia are more accustomed: the problems with the rodalie trains. Hundreds of Madrid rodalies passengers have been forced to abandon the train and walk along the tracks to the Atocha station after being trapped for almost 1 hour without air in the train in which they were traveling early in the day.
Signaling fault
The train, which was traveling between Guadalajara and Chamartín, stopped with the doors closed around 8:30 in the morning due to a fault in the signaling. One of the passengers activated the alarm system. The situation led to passengers occupying the tracks, causing delays in other trains to avoid accidents.
Emergency care
After the passengers of the affected train arrived on foot at the Atocha station, Madrid’s emergency services went to the scene to treat them. Several cases of fainting, anxiety attacks and lipothymia were recorded due to the heat inside the carriages. Passengers on line C8 shared a video on social media of the surreal situation they had to face that Monday.
Criticism of the Government’s management
The Popular Party did not miss the opportunity to criticize the management of the Government and the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente. Through social networks, the popular ones charged against Puente and stated that while dozens of passengers walked along the tracks, the minister insulted Isabel Díaz Ayuso and created international crises.
