A neighborhood complaint that has borne fruit
The residents of La Sagrera have won a small victory in their long fight against the inconvenience generated by the railway works in the area. About sixty families have expressed their discomfort due to the presence of two concrete plants who have altered their quality of life, with constant noise and dust that forces them to keep their windows closing and to give up the use of their balconies.
City Council Commitments and Adif
During a recent public hearing in Sant Andreu, the City Council announced that, after inspections and various administrative files, Adif has accepted the dismantling of one of the concrete plants. Neighbors have been informed that the date of completion of the activity is scheduled for April 30, although the current situation has not changed.
Details of the inspections
On December 11, the municipal representatives performed a thorough review of the concrete plants, starting three files: one against Adif as the owner and two more against each floor. The City Council has confirmed that it is being evaluated if the activities carried out in accord with the current regulations.
The reaction of the neighbors
At a meeting with the consistory, the neighbors learned that the plant that will be closed is the white one, located near the bridge of Bac de Roda. Úrsula Prados, a resident of Berenguer de Palou Street, expressed his satisfaction with the commitment, although he said that the other plant, which operates more intensely, will continue to be active until the works of Adif end.
Measures to reduce impact
Neighbors have also been informed that the other plant, green, will not be able to move, but corrective measures will be implemented to reduce the impact of pollution. Adif has stated that the two floors are used not only for the works of La Sagrera, but also for other projects.
A new access to minimize discomfort
One of the additional commitments is the creation of a new access to the concrete plant, with the aim of altering the vehicle circuit to reduce the noise and dust generated. In addition, Adif has stated his intention to improve the environmental conditions of the plant, reaffirming his collaboration with the City Council.
Next steps
In addition, the municipal authorities have indicated that the concrete plant has a month to submit the documentation to the Generalitat, in order to show that it fulfills all the necessary requirements to continue its operations.
