The City Council and the Cabildo work together
The Villa de Mazo City Council and the La Palma Cabildo are collaborating closely to advance the creation of a new senior residence in the municipality. This social and health infrastructure is of vital importance to meet the needs of dependent people in our town.
Project in development
The residence project is in the drafting phase and is expected to be completed soon so that its execution can be put out to tender. Although some procedures have been advanced with the basic project, it is necessary to seek additional financing due to the execution deadlines and the requirements of the Next Generation funds, which must be certified before the end of 2026.
Commitment to social development
In the previous mandate, it had been agreed to include this strategic infrastructure in the works plan of the Second Social and Health Plan of La Palma, but unfortunately it was not carried out. For this reason, the Mazo City Council considers it essential to execute this resource as soon as possible to promote the social development of the municipality.
Collaboration with the Cabildo
The Mazo City Council is working in close collaboration with the Cabildo of La Palma to include this project in the Third Socio-Health Agreement for the Island. This will allow its construction and will mean an increase in accommodation and day stay places in the municipality, thus improving the social and health services for older people.
Council support
The Minister of Social Action of the Cabildo of La Palma, Ángeles Fernández, highlights that the insular Corporation has responded to the important request of the City Council to find an alternative that allows progress in this very necessary project. The goal is to continue providing quality care to the elderly in La Palma and Villa de Mazo.
Project details
The residence will have a total of 40 accommodation places and 20 day stay places. These facilities will improve the provision of social and health services in the municipality, offering an adequate and safe place to care for the elderly.
