In a day of rejection inside the Corts Valencianes, the admission to processing and the emergency procedure for five PP and Vox laws were approved, including the repeal of the law of democratic memory and its replacement by a law of “concord ”.

Tribute to the victims of the Civil War and Francoism

The progressive groups, PSPV and Compromís, brought to the Chamber numerous references to the victims of the Civil War and Francoism as a response to what they consider a democratic “involution.” The socialist deputies displayed photographs of those who were retaliated against during the entire control session at the Consell.

Criticism of the “concord” law

The socialist spokesperson, José Muñoz, questioned the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, about whether he considers that Francoism was a dictatorship. After the affirmative response, Muñoz criticized the norm that is beginning to be processed, arguing that it “dignifies Francoism” and those who repressed those who fought for freedom.

Reproaches and responses

In an exchange of reproaches, the popular leader accused the socialist of having problems with democracy, while the latter reproached the president for opening the door to the extreme right and making agreements with them.

symbolic gesture

The president of the Generalitat responded by placing an image of the poet Miguel Hernández in his seat, while he gave Muñoz an underlined fragment of the book A sangre y fuego, by Manuel Chaves Nogales.
