A new stage of unity between the entities

This Thursday, Lluís Llach, Xavier Antich and Jordi Gaseni, representatives of the ANC, Òmnium Cultural and the Association of Municipalities for Independence (AMI), met to present the activities planned for the Day. This meeting symbolizes a new reconciliation after two years of significant tensions between these organizations.

From a year of distance to the unit

The joint appearance of these figures contrasts with the situation last year, where the top representatives of Omnium and the AMI did not attend the event. That year, frustration had increased after the AMI accused the ANC of exclusion. Today’s image of unity reinforces aspirations to join forces for civil independence.

Decentralized mobilization: a strategic shift

This year’s Diada celebrations will follow a decentralized format, with demonstrations in several cities, including Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, Lleida and Tortosa. This decision has not been without controversy within the Assembly, since a debate was generated about the most appropriate mobilization model.

The route of the demonstration in Barcelona

In Barcelona, the demonstration will begin at França station at 4pm and end at the Arc de Triomf, where a political event will be organized at 5.14pm. Through this tour, it is hoped to highlight the change in relations between the ANC and Òmnium since the arrival of Llach as president of the Assembly.

Central themes for each city during the Day

The mobilization will be structured around different themes related to local demands in each of the participating cities.

Specific claims

In Barcelona, the housing crisis will be highlighted, in Girona, the deterioration of the health system, in Tarragona, the impact of fiscal plunder on rail transport. Lleida will address the defense of the agricultural sector and Tortosa will focus its complaints on water management deficiencies.

A consensus slogan for the Day

Despite the internal differences, it is notable that the entities have agreed on a slogan for the header of the demonstration: ‘Tornem als carrers’, which seeks to reaffirm the strength of independence.

A Day that transcends tensions

Xavier Antich has stressed the importance of ensuring that the Day is a manifestation of plurality and unity. Likewise, Lluís Llach closed the event by emphasizing the need to maintain the focus on independence, leaving aside immediate political issues.
