A new facade for a historical market
The Torreforta market has revealed its renewed facade, marking a significant step towards the modernization and energy efficiency of the building. This update is part of the Tarragona Open Shopping Center project, an initiative with the support of the European Union Next Generation Funds, which seeks to revitalize the city’s commercial spaces.
Celebrating the renewal and the community
With the completion of the rehabilitation work, the official inauguration coincides with the celebration of the 43rd anniversary of the market, which will take place on March 16. The festivities will include a popular chocolate on March 21 in the afternoon, an event designed to connect with the neighbors and friends of this emblematic mall. From 18: 00h, attendees will enjoy delicious portions of chocolate on the outer esplanade of the market.
Improvements in energy efficiency and aesthetics
The renovation works have included a number of significant improvements, such as the repair of the roof, the thermal insulation through the SATE system, the modernization of the air conditioning system and the installation of new LED lighting. These actions have significantly raised the building’s energy efficiency standards, improving their certificate in two classifications. The total cost of the project was 393,448 euros, of which 80% has been covered by European funds.
An opening ceremony full of authorities
The inaugural event was attended by political figures such as the Mayor of Tarragona, Rubén Viñuales, and the President of Tarragona Markets, Montse Adan. Viñuales has expressed his satisfaction with the renewal and emphasized the historical and social importance of the market, while Adan emphasized his commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency as the fundamental pillars of the project.
