A cycle that marks a trend
The fourteenth year of the cycle of concerts ‘Reviviendo Clásicos’ has come with a unique proposal that stands out for his dedication to the lesser -known works of our land. This event, which has become a musical reference, took place in the Auditorium and was presented by the renowned pianist Enrique Bagaría, who guided us through a select repertoire of Catalan sonatas in the last two and a half centuries.
An expected and unforgettable concert
After a deferral for health reasons, the concert took place in an atmosphere full of expectation on March 10, 2025, in the Alice Room of Larrocha. Attendees enjoyed a repertoire that included pieces by Teixidor, Marsal, Albéniz and Garreta, paying tribute to the centenary of the latter’s death.
A journey through the sonatas
Weaver: A look at the past
The concert began with the Sonata in re Major of Josep Teixidor, written in 1794. This work, considered the first classical sonata of a Catalan composer, transports us to a world of exquisite melodies and delicate ornamentations. Bagaría interpreted her with an elegance that did justice to her refinement.
Marsal: the modernity of the past
Then Sonata no. 5 by Pau Marsal captured the attention of the public with his only movement, reminiscent of the works of great masters such as Scarlatti. The music of this organist in Terrassa praised with freshness and elegance, evoking even Echoes by Rossini, and Bagaría managed to convey this operatic essence with admirable clarity.
Albéniz: An unforgettable classic
The most emblematic piece of the evening was, without a doubt, the sonata no. 3 by Isaac Albéniz. With his virtuosity and his rich melody, Bagaría offered an interpretation that emphasized the romantic label of this work, combining technique and expressiveness in an exceptional way.
Garreta: a Joia of the Senculo XX
Juli Garreta’s smaller gift, the only one he wrote for piano, closed the concert with a post-romantic musical trip. Composed in 1922, this work surprised us with its originality and its ability to remember Schumann, with moments of intense passion and a delicate introspection.
An Apothesical Final
Finally, the concert presented Catalonia by Albéniz and the song and dance no. Mompou 3, masterfully performed by Bagaría. Not only was this recital a tribute to the works of our composers, but also an opportunity to rediscover the musical richness of Catalonia through an interpretation that captivated and excited the public.
