A childhood between mountains and spirituality
During my years of training, Montserrat was my refuge, a place where every summer it became a journey of discovery. The cells near the monastery became my world, and over time, my stays became shorter, but not less significant. My father, with an unshakable faith, lived every moment with a devotion that resonated with the ringing of the bells. Life in Montserrat followed a quiet ritornell, a symphony of hours and work.
A Singular Community between Nature
Despite the monastic aura, our existence was not monastic. That small town around the abbey, with its shops and restaurants, offered us a sense of primitive freedom. At the end of the 20th century, Montserrat was a refuge for many vacationers seeking to escape the urban bustle. Every day, tourists of all types flooded the streets, creating an atmosphere that was at the same time merely and vibrant.
The essence of a summer full of adventure
Our childhood was full of friendly rivalries, innocent infatuation and small fights, all in a constant adventure environment. The mountain, ubiquitous, attracted us, and in our moments of freedom, we climbed rocks and built cabins in hidden corners. I still remember one of our crossings, when we discovered a half -painted wall, the result of one of our spontaneous artistic experiences.
Knowledge and monastic wisdom
Montserrat was not only a leisure scene, but also a center of knowledge. The relationship with the monks was a gift, and his conversations about philosophy and spirituality enriched us deeply. Each visit to Abbot Cassià, with its kindness, was a reminder of the value of the community and shared wisdom. My moments with figures like Father Gregory Estrada or Father Hilari Raguer were true life lessons.
Activities and learning during the summer
The evenings were an opportunity to help with votive candles or participate in various activities, such as catechesis classes with Joaquim Coll. One of our most memorable projects was the restoration of the hermitage of Sant Joan, which allowed us to connect with the history of the place while working as a team. Although simple, that task taught us the importance of collective commitment and effort.
A legacy that lasts
The summers in Montserrat were much more than simple holidays; They were a formative stage full of unforgettable moments and vital learning. That experience marked my life, and even today, the memory of the adventures lived and the connections made at the heights of Montserrat persists. It is a legacy that crosses time, always reminding me of the essence of that spiritual and natural world that we were so well welcomed.
