Together win and improve results
With almost 100% scrutinized, the parties with representation in Sant Cugat City Council make an assessment of their results in the elections to the Parliament of Catalonia. The Puigdemont effect has been felt in Sant Cugat, where Junts has won the elections for the Parliament of Catalonia. The president of Junts per Sant Cugat, Marta Canas, has highlighted that, despite the drop in participation, the formation has improved the results in percentage of vote and votes compared to the 2021 elections. Second socialist position in the municipality
The PSC got almost 2,000 more votes than in the 2021 elections and was the second most voted party in Sant Cugat. Vila also thanked all the people of Sant Cugat who chose the socialist option. “It is a great result that in the municipality puts us in the direction of sanity and responsibility,” said Vila.
Second best result of the PP in Sant Cugat
For its part, the PP has obtained the second best result in its history in the municipality with more than 6,000 votes. The spokesperson of the PP of Sant Cugat, Álvaro Benejam, has pointed out that the result of the popular vote secures Alejandro Fernández as the leader of the party in Catalonia and the “spokesman for the voice of the constitutionalist right” in the country. Regarding the future pacts, Benejam has assured that it is a “devilish result”. “I think the PSC has the responsibility to form a government, but it is also very possible that there will be a repeat election,” said Benejam.
Vox consolidates
Vox has also improved its results in Sant Cugat. The spokesperson for the formation at the City Council, Marcos Rodríguez, has remarked that Vox’s results in the elections show that it is “a consolidated and ascending project”, although there were some parties that “wanted to make them disappear”. About having stayed at the gates of entering as a deputy, Rodríguez pointed out that the general result is “the most important”.
The commons call for a left-wing government
Commons Sumar was the sixth most voted force in the municipality, the same position it obtained in 2021. The spokesman for the commons at the City Council, Ramon Gutiérrez, regretted the results of the elections, although he assured that the “setback has been limited and dampened”. “We see with concern and bad news the rise of the extreme right of Vox and Aliança Catalana, which are two sides of the same coin,” said Gutiérrez. Regarding the future government, Gutiérrez has called on the PSC and ERC to “stand up” so that there is a left-wing government.
The CUP warns of a turn to the right
Number 36 on the CUP lists, Ignasi Bea from Sant Cugat, has admitted that they cannot be happy “in any way”. “The country has turned to the right, there is more ultra-right than ever and the PSC has won with a program that is tearing the country apart,” said Bea. The man from Sant Cugat has highlighted as a “positive” point that the training in the municipality has taken a higher percentage of that achieved in Catalonia. Faced with these results, Bea pointed out that the CUP must “reflect” and think “why it happened”.
