A new sports tradition for Carnival

La Crispeta, a cultural entity with a strong commitment to youth, has decided to incorporate a sporting element into the Reus Carnival festivities. On February 23, the city will host the first edition of the popular Carnival race, an activity designed to merge the joy of Carnival with the energy of an athletic competition.

Race details: a festive route

The race will start at 11am in the iconic Plaça del Castell, which will also become the finish line for the participants. With a 5km route that will run through the most emblematic streets of Reus, the event aims to encourage runners to dress up in costumes, adding a festive touch to the competition.

Registrations and attractive prizes

Registration is now open and will remain active until February 21, or until the limit of 500 participants is reached. The cost to participate is 8.5 euros. Bibs can be collected at the Reus Ploms Swimming Club on February 21 and 22, and also on the day of the race.

Categories and recognitions

Runners will compete in several categories: Promesa, Senior, Veteran and Master, with prizes for the top three finishers in each group. There will also be awards for the best costume, the fastest runner on a specific section and the organization that registers the most participants.

A party beyond the race

After the competition, participants will be able to enjoy a raffle for lots of products from the sponsors, as well as a vermouth organized by the Vespistats group in Plaça del Castell, thus contributing to the festive atmosphere of the day.

Recovering the link with Carnival

After a six-year absence, La Crispeta is once again involved with the Reus Carnival. Clara Piñol, secretary of the association, expresses the organization’s excitement for contributing to such a significant festival, highlighting that this race represents a step towards a more diverse and inclusive program.

La Crispeta: a journey from Carnival to culture

Founded in 2016, La Crispeta began as a Carnival group that participated with a float. Now, the entity has evolved into a cultural and youth organization with a wide range of activities for all audiences, thus demonstrating its commitment to the community and local culture.
