A space for innovation and collaboration

Foyer Marià Fortuny, located in Firareus Events, has been the scene chosen to celebrate the annual technatox workshop, an event that seeks to promote new ideas in the fields of food, health and sustainability. In this second edition, local experts, researchers and businessmen have gathered to discuss the latest innovations and the development of advanced technology projects.

Welcome and introduction to the workshop

The day began with the interventions of the Mayor of Reus, Sandra Guaita, and the Vice -Rector of the Rovira i Virgili University (URV), Ercilia García, who welcomed the attendees. Mònica Bulló, director of Tecnatox, then provided an overview of current nutrition and sustainability research.

The value of knowledge transfer

Josep Baiges, Councilor for Economic Promotion and CEO of Redessa, emphasized the importance of Hub Foodtech & Nutrition. He has stated that it is essential to bring nutrition and health research closer to agri -food companies in the region, highlighting the need for effective collaboration between academic research and industry.

Workshop Content: Three thematic blocks

The workshop program has been structured into three major thematic blocks. The first, dedicated to nutrition and health, has included a presentation that has addressed the challenges and innovation needs in both the company and society. The second block has presented several presentations on technology and innovation, including the presentation of two emerging spin-offs: Nanochronia and UP2Smart.

Environmental aspects and toxicology

The third block has focused on the environment and toxicology, highlighting the impact of microplastics and their consequences for public health and the natural environment.

Closing and recognition

The workshop concluded with the awards ceremony for the best posters and oral communications presented during the day. The closing was given by the rector of the URV, Josep Pallarès, and Josep Baiges, who emphasized the success of the event and its relevance to the local community.
