Reus celebrates innovative recognition

On May 5, the city of Reus will become the scene of a significant event: the delivery of distinctions to the recently named Cities of Science and Innovation. The Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, will be the outstanding figure of this ceremony, as he has shared on his social networks.

A recognition to local innovation

The ministry has revealed, in a call held on March 3, the awarded municipalities. Reus stands out as the only Catalan city in this category and the first outside the province of Barcelona to be included in the prestigious Red Innpulso. This distinction is granted to those municipalities that have shown a firm commitment to innovation through their local policies.

Commitment to progress

Reus has been recognized in the category of cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants, along with other municipalities such as Alcorcón, Bilbao and Huelva. Its candidacy includes a total of 69 innovative projects, organized in three key areas: citizenship services, internal optimization of local entities and promoting economic activity.

A boost to collaboration and excellence

With an expected investment of approximately 80 million euros, the City Council of Reus seeks to implement initiatives that improve the quality of life of its citizens. Being part of the Red Innpulso not only opens the door to sharing knowledge and experiences with other cities, but also facilitates access to collaborative projects in the field of scientific research.

Valuation of local authorities

The Mayor of Reus, Sandra Guaita, has expressed his enthusiasm to host the delivery ceremony, emphasizing that this will not only position the city as a benchmark in innovation, but also to share local initiatives with other municipalities on the network.

A promising future for Reus

Recognition as a city of science and innovation opens a new chapter for Reus, which will not only improve local services, but will also help create an innovation ecosystem that will benefit the community as a whole. The city thus approaches a future full of opportunities and collaborations in the scientific world.
