The city of Reus has become the epicenter of the circus with the beginning of the International Circus Fair of Catalonia, known as Trapezi, which starts its 39th edition today and will run until May 18. This annual event attracts both fans and circus professionals, celebrating the diversity and creativity of this art.

Spectacular inauguration with circus personalities

The opening ceremony, held at 5:00 p.m. at the CAL Massó Art Center, brought together outstanding figures from the cultural and circus world. Among the attendees were artistic directors Alba Sarraute and Cristina Cazorla, as well as the mayor of Reus, Sandra Guaita, and other dignitaries such as Míriam Gómez del Inaem and Edgar García del ICEC.

An unforgettable performance

The inaugural event culminated in the presentation of ‘Kiss & Fly’ by Tipotes La Compagnie, a show that combines acrobatics, dance and humor. The acrobats, with their tricycle and balance, captivated an enthusiastic audience that filled the square.

Diversified programming and relevant themes

In this edition, Trapezi offers almost forty artistic proposals that reflect contemporary problems, such as migration, mental health and gender identity. Each show is designed to generate reflection and resonate emotionally with the spectators.

A showcase for local talent

Under the direction of Cazorla and Sarraute, the fair becomes an inclusive space that prioritizes the listening of the needs of the circus sector. This guarantees a program that supports and highlights local talent, ensuring a varied offer for all audiences.

Activities for all and for the future of the circus

From today, educational activities have begun in the Tent of the San Jorge Park, while the emblematic elephant of the trapezoid will travel the school courtyards of the city throughout the week. In addition, sessions aimed at professionals in the sector have begun, enriching the experience of the fair.
