A new event for the wine tradition
On Saturday, November 23, the Llotja de Reus will become the epicenter of wine with the celebration of the first New Wine Festival. This event marks a historic moment, as it brings together eight Catalan wineries that have produced new wine this year, with the aim of revitalizing and promoting a product with deep roots in the country’s culture.
Collaboration between institutions and wineries
The Chamber of Commerce of Reus has been key in the realization of this party, which is held just before the similar event in Barcelona, which will reach its eighth edition in 2023. In the presentation of the festival, held on November 14, prominent representatives of the sector participated, such as the president of the Chamber, Mario Basora, and Oleguer Brunet, of the Collective of new wine producers.
A wine tasting for everyone
Attendees will be able to enjoy 11 varieties of new wine from wineries with five designations of origin. Among them are recognized names such as Carles Andreu and Vinícola de Sarral. Tastings will be available between 11:30 and 14:30, and from 16:30 to 20:30, with free admission and tasting tickets at a very affordable price.
Activities and gastronomy
The day will begin with the pinning of the boot, a tradition that symbolizes the arrival of new wine, carried out by president Mario Basora. The URV Pataquers group will add a festive touch with a castle pillar. In addition, several gastronomic establishments will be responsible for offering local delicacies during the event.
The vi novell: a jewel of Catalan culture
Oleguer Brunet has highlighted the importance of new wine as a fundamental element of Catalonia’s wine culture. For years, they have been working to dignify this wine, which is the first to hit the market after the harvest and which, with its fruity flavor, is ideal to accompany seasonal dishes.
Characteristics and quality criteria
The new wines of 2024 will carry a label that guarantees that they have been made with grapes from the same vintage, and that they meet the quality criteria established by the denominations of origin. This initiative seeks to ensure its authenticity and promote its tradition.
A promising future for new wine
With this first edition of the Novell Wine Festival in Reus, it is expected that this event will become an annual tradition that strengthens the link between the community and the world of wine, thus celebrating the arrival of an emblematic product that deserves to be recognized and valued.
