An outstanding photography festival in Catalonia
Until June 15, the 12th edition of REVELA’T, one of the most important photography festivals in our country, will be held in Vilassar de Dalt. As is tradition, each year the festival chooses a motto to guide its selection, which on this occasion is that of identity “understood as the set of traits that characterize an individual or group in relation to others”, such as it is indicated in the presentation.
Exhibitions focused on portraiture
The Revela’t festival stands out for its exhibitions focused on the portrait, whether individual, couple, family or group. In addition to the old Cal Garbat factory, other venues in Vilassar de Dalt such as L’Estrella, Teatre La Massa and les Rajolers host the exhibitions. You can also see photographs hung in large formats in the streets and squares of the town, creating a photographic atmosphere throughout the festival.
Practical guide and complementary activities
The festival offers a practical guide with detailed information on the exhibitions and the different spaces where they are held. In addition to the exhibitions, there are several complementary activities such as lectures, a photography market, analog photography workshops and photo-book presentations.
An edition with novelties
In this edition, Revela’t has incorporated a new well-equipped development laboratory, at a cost of around 5,000 euros, to reinforce its analogical vocation. The duration of the festival has also been extended, dedicating an entire week to the activities of the Main Week, which includes a tribute to the photographer Cristina de Middel, director of the Magnum Agency, who participates in the festival with a selection of three his series of documentary photography.
A growing festival
The Revela’t festival is considered one of the most important festivals in Catalonia and has grown in number of visitors year after year. Through its exhibitions, activities and its analogical vocation, the festival contributes to the promotion of photography and the cultural fabric of Vilassar de Dalt and the country.
