Last Wednesday, Tarragona hosted a press conference dedicated to the premiere of the Democratic Memory Program for 2025. A diversified and inclusive program
With a duration that will be extended from February to October, the program offers about forty activities, designed by the Commission on Democratic Memory Programs of the City Council of Tarragona, in collaboration with various public and private entities. This year, one of the most prominent figures will be Federico García Lorca, coinciding with the 90th anniversary of his stay in the city.

The program is not limited to a single topic, but it is proposed to explore a wide range of issues related to the period from the Second Republic to the Franco dictatorship. The Minister of Democratic Memory, Sandra Ramos, expressed the hope that these activities will promote a culture of peace and understanding among citizens.

A remarkable example of this inclusion is the X Meeting of Network City Councils Mai again, scheduled for Thursday, March 6 in the Archive, which will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the release of Nazi concentration camps. This network, active since 2015, brings together municipal councils and municipal representatives committed to historical memory.
Education as a fundamental pillar
