Innovative Improvements to the Roman Complex of Centcelles
The National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona (MNAT) has begun an ambitious update of the Roman Complex of Centcelles, located in Constantí, in collaboration with the Visitmuseum program of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat. This initiative seeks to enrich the visit and facilitate a deeper understanding of this monument, which is a World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO.
Educational Panels and Interactive Experiences
Among the new features, eight information panels have been installed to guide visitors through the monument, both inside and outside. These resources provide historical context and explore the various theories about the structure and its significance over time.
Mobile Panel in the Dome Room
In the Dome Room, a mobile panel offers a detailed analysis of the mosaic iconography, one of the most fascinating elements of the complex. This innovation aims to make history come alive for visitors.
Inclusive Access and Improvements for Everyone
Accessibility has been a priority, with a significant renovation of the tactile model of the monument. Visitors can now find information in Braille and in large print, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the Centcelles experience.
Technological Resources and Audio Guides
As part of these improvements, the Roman complex is also launching free audio guides and sign guides, available in several languages. These tools allow visitors to explore the monument while listening to expert commentary, thus enhancing their cultural experience.
Special Activities for the Holidays
During the Christmas season, the MNAT will offer a special activity called ‘Enlaira’t a la cúpula de Centcelles’. Visitors will be able to experience virtual reality to observe the wonderful paintings and mosaics of the dome up close, all included in the entrance price.
A Promising Future for Centcelles
With these initiatives, the MNAT not only seeks to preserve history, but also to make it accessible and attractive for future generations. Improvements will continue, and it is expected that the incorporation of advanced technologies will further enrich the visitor experience.
