Successful operation of the Civil Guard in Tenerife
The Civil Guard has carried out a successful operation on the coast of Tenerife, where seven people have been arrested and a boat with a large amount of hashish has been intercepted.
Key collaboration for the success of the operation
The Civil Guard’s action was possible thanks to the collaboration with the General Directorate of Surveillance over the Moroccan Territory (DGST), which provided crucial information about the arrival of a vessel from Morocco to the Canary Islands coasts.
Drug arrest and seizure
During the operation, the agents surprised the seven detainees while they were stowing a significant amount of bales of hashish from a semi-rigid boat into a van. Five of them loaded the drugs and the other two acted as skippers of the boat. They were all immediately arrested, along with the seizure of 1,700 kilos of hashish.
Seizure of other items
In addition to the drugs, the inflatable boat, a van-type vehicle, a satellite phone, a GPS navigation device and several mobile phones were also seized. These elements will be fundamental for the ongoing investigation.
Legal process underway
The seven detainees were placed at the disposal of the Guard Investigative Court of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. The judge ordered the provisional imprisonment of all of them, while the corresponding investigation is carried out.
