El Departamento de Turismo de la Ciudad de Sitges refuerza su estrategia para consolidar el posicionamiento turístico de la ciudad, tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. Durante esta primavera, se está llevando a cabo un conjunto de acciones promocionales para posicionar a los sitios como un destino turístico de calidad y versátil, tanto para el público de vacaciones como para las reuniones y el turismo de eventos (ratones). Tourism promotion strategies in Sitges

The Tourism Office of the City of Sitges is implementing a series of initiatives to strengthen the image of the city as an attractive tourist destination both nationally and internationally. With the arrival of spring, various promotional actions are being carried out to highlight the versatility of Sitges, orienting both holiday tourism and the meetings and events.

Key events for the promotion of Sitges

Recently, Sitges participated in the event ‘All About People’, held on the Costa Brava, an international forum that focuses on Mice Tourism. This event offered an ideal platform to present the Tourist offer from Sitges to British agencies. In addition, an episode of the ‘Earth’ program of TVE was recorded, which will show aspects of the landscape, culture and gastronomy of the town.

International connections and networking opportunities

The Department was also present at the day of the Spain Convention Bureau in Munich, where a presentation of the Mice from Sitges to the German market was made. Likewise, he participated in a meeting organized by DTI manager, in the context of the network of smart tourist destinations.

Promotional activities in May

The month of May promises to be equally asset in terms of tourism promotion. On May 14, the Department, in collaboration with the Catalan Tourism Agency, will organize a familiarization trip for travel and media agents of Moldova and Ukraine, coinciding with a new air connection between Chisinau and Barcelona.

Interaction with the European and Norwegian market

Between May 16 and 19, the Workshop M&I Mice & Luxury Forum will be held, where contacts with tourism professionals from Europe and North America will be established. In addition, on May 21, Sitges will receive a delegation of Norway tourist businessmen to share their tourism management model and its rich cultural and architectural heritage.

Future perspectives: enogastronomy and sustainability

Towards the end of May, on the 27th of this month, a Benchmarking meeting will be held, in collaboration with the Catalan Tourism Agency and the Diputación de Barcelona. This event will focus on the exchange of good practices related to sustainable, cultural and enogastronomic tourism between different businessmen and tourist municipalities.

Focus on gastronomy for the future

Looking ahead to the month of June, it is expected to continue with the promotion of Sitges, making special emphasis on enogastronomy, in the framework of the recognition of Catalonia as the World Region of Gastronomy 2025. The actions will include familiarization trips for specialized international agents and participation in the event ‘Tasty Catalunya’, which will focus on regional gastronomy.
