Housing Initiatives in Sitges
The City Council of Sitges has taken a significant step in its mission to improve access to housing, registering two spaces within the Public Site Reserve promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya. These locations, located on Calle Mestre Manuel Torrens and Vallbona, represent a first step towards the 50,000 homes, which seeks to promote the construction of affordable homes in the region.
Details on Happy Projects
The City Council will be responsible for the management of the project and will select a construction company for the edition of apartments for social rent. The Master Manuel Torrens plot is expected to house up to 200 homes, while the Vallbona plot could provide about fifty units. In addition, the Generalitat will facilitate funding through the Catalan Finance Institute to guarantee the success of the project.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PLAN 50,000 Homes
The main objective of the Generalitat is to increase the offer of affordable housing and protected rent. This includes not only the construction of new buildings, but also the mobilization of public land and the collaboration with local authorities to ensure that the homes are distributed equally in Catalonia.
A social approach
The project is to ensure that groups with difficulty, such as young people, families with low income and vulnerable people, have access to decent housing. In addition, criteria of energy sustainability and efficiency will be incorporated for a construction that respects the environment and minimizes the ecological impact.
Reviews of the Local Authorities
Aurora Carbonell, Mayor of Sitges and Councilor for Urbanism, has expressed his satisfaction with collaboration with the Generalitat, saying that “it is a crucial moment to address the housing emergency that affects Catalonia, and in particular, Sitges”. He also emphasized that the City Council will continue to work on its housing policy, with its view to the development of 482 new protection flats.
PSC commitment
PSC spokesman in Sitges, Luís Miguel García, emphasized that housing policies have become a priority under the direction of Salvador Illa. García added that the exploration of new solutions for the construction of housing is essential, with the aim of complementing the 480 floors already planned in the budget pact with the municipal government.
Future of the Housing Plan
The 50,000 homes will be distributed with a focus on the municipalities with a high demand for affordable housing. The plan will be developed in several stages, ensuring that each project is viable and effectively executed, with the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens and fostering a more inclusive community.
