Several vocations, one call
Each of the seminarians has a unique vocational history, but they all converge in the same calling. Joan Piñol, one of the seminarians, explains that their vocational experiences are different, but in the end they are unified in the same calling. Javier Casals, another seminarian, says that in the diocese of Barcelona there are several Church realities that have influenced his vocation.
An unexpected call
Joan’s story begins in a family that was not particularly religious. It was during his time at the Manyanet Les Corts Christian school that he had an encounter with God. It was in the church of Our Lady of Bethlehem, on the Rambla in Barcelona, where he clearly experienced the existence of God.
A family vocation
In Javier’s case, his family was already Christian and practicing. It was at Col·legi Viaró, a corporate work of Opus Dei, where he received a Christian formation that was fundamental for his vocational discernment.
A decision for life
Both Joan and Javier made the decision to enter the Barcelona Seminary after completing their university studies. For them, the call to the priesthood implies a lifelong commitment. With their weaknesses and strengths, they have said yes to the Lord forever.
A vocational culture
The six seminarians who will be ordained deacons on June 16 at the Sagrada Família have completed a six-year training period at the Conciliar Seminary in Barcelona. During these years, they have learned a lot from people, especially marriages, which have a very important vocation of giving.
Sowers of hope
With an eye on the Year of Hope 2025, the new deacons feel called to be sowers of hope. Their service as deacons and future priests is to awaken the life of grace in the hearts of people.
