Key Dates for Food Collection
The upcoming 22nd and 23rd of November will mark a crucial moment for the community, with the launch of the Gran Recapte 2024, an initiative supported by the Food Banks in the main distribution chains. This event not only highlights citizen generosity, but also highlights the importance of volunteerism in its implementation.
A Community Response to the Emergency
The public reaction to the crisis caused by the recent disaster has been remarkable. Despite initial efforts, experts predict that the needs of those affected will extend into the long term, requiring continued commitment.
Persistent Needs and Continuous Support
The four Food Banks of Catalonia, located in the cities of Barcelona, Girona, Lleida and Tarragona, have expressed their need for a constant flow of donations to face not only the consequences of the disaster, but also to serve the 230,000 people who currently depend on them. This support is channeled through 570 social organizations.
Commitment to the Victims of the Dana
In collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Food Banks, the Food Banks of Catalonia have decided to allocate up to 50% of the donations collected during the Great Collection to people affected by the disaster, ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most.
Donation and Effectiveness Options
To facilitate contributions, online donation options have been enabled, which include the platform www.granrecapte.org and the Bizum service at number 33596. These financial donations are considered the most effective, as they allow Food Banks to acquire products at competitive prices, reducing costs and environmental impact.
A Great Collection for Solidarity
With the slogan ‘Make your contribution and join a Big Collection that is twice as charitable’, this year’s campaign seeks to mobilize society to ensure the supply of Food Bank warehouses. This initiative offers an organized structure to channel the generosity of the community.
Logistics and Coordination in the Collection Process
Food Banks will manage and classify the collected food, working in close collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Food Banks. This will ensure that aid reaches the areas most affected by the disaster efficiently, in addition to maintaining support for the usual needs of the vulnerable population.
