In 2024, it presents an innovative proposal with theatrical nocturnal visits, organized by Solsona Experience, which promise to transport attendees to the essence of Carnival. These immersive experiences explore from its beginnings to the recovery of the party after Francoism, passing through key moments such as the carnivals during the Republic.

The tour begins at Lo Cal Boig, where visitors are greeted by historical figures who explain the struggle between festive traditions and ecclesiastical restrictions. In addition, the origin of the term ‘carnival’ is shared, which comes from the Latin ‘carnem-levare’, a reminder of the sacrifices made by medieval society.
Carnival as a symbol of resistance
During the Franco dictatorship, Carnival was banned in Catalonia, but Solsona became an example of resistance, reviving the celebration in 1971. At that time, it was passed off as a ‘Fiesta Mayor de Invierno’, allowing for the Carnival King to make his voice heard again with a satirical sermon in Catalan, an act of courage and cultural vindication.
